What is a Killer?

A killer is a person who kills someone or something. The term can also refer to a weapon used for killing, as in a club of hard wood for killing fish, or an instrument for painless killing of cattle or horses, or even for war – although such use is typically considered unethical and immoral. The term is similar to the term hitman, a hired gun who murders a person for money or political gain.

A serial killer is a person who commits multiple murders over a period of time, often in a geographically stable area or over an extended timeframe. The killer usually has no connection to each victim, but there are many theories on why he or she kills. Motives may include anger, sexual gratification, thrill seeking, or financial gain.

The FBI defines a serial killer as a person who murders three or more people in separate incidents that are not related to each other and occur over an extended period of time. It is believed that serial killers are motivated by different factors and vary in length of time between murders, and that the crimes are planned and meticulously executed. The killings are not spontaneous and the victims are usually chosen for their demographic profile, appearance, or location.

Scott Bonn: It is not one-size-fits-all, but it can be categorized into four major types: the visionary who attributes their crimes to visions or voices that direct them, the mission-oriented who sees their goal as eliminating a specific group of people, the hedonistic who takes pleasure in the act of killing, and the power/control oriented who derives gratification from controlling a helpless victim. Psychopathic serial killers are highly organized, persuasive, and patient. These traits can also make them great salesmen or architects, and they are often very successful in their careers.

The speculation over serial killers resurfaced after the mass shooting in Orlando, and it has continued to rise despite a national decrease in the number of known active serial killers. It is believed that improvements in forensic science, policing, and criminal justice have led to this drop.

Louis Schlesinger: Americans like to believe that serial killers are evil geniuses with IQs of 180 and speak five languages, but it is not true. You go into any state prison and you will find contract killers, health care professionals who killed their patients. They are the same type of people that would be hired for jobs as janitors or plumbers.

A Killer is a game mechanic in Dead by Daylight, introduced in Patch 8.3.0 that allows the Killer to perform a Mori on the Last Survivor Standing (and all Survivors that have reached their Dying State) by killing them with their hands, bypassing the usual Sacrifice process keluaran macau of hooking the Survivor onto a Hook. The ability was originally only accessible through the Cypress Memento Mori Offering, but it has now been added to the base-kit for all Killers. This kill is shown with a different skull icon on the HUD and doesn’t count towards any Achievements or Challenges that require a Sacrifice.
